How about making a hole in PCB for it? So it goes a bit _into_ the pcb?
maybe this 1mm would be enough? We could always grind it a bit ;)

Why bother putting system on this board? 128MB may not be enough for a
full featured system, CF cards are much cheaper per megabyte...

Why can't we have like 32kB there?

Hmm, are there flash memories with a special serial interface (JTAG?
SPI?) as well as normal one? We could use this interface to flash it and
normal interface for a jornada.

> As to price, it is still too early to tell. I'm hoping the absolute most they will be is US$100, but since this is going to be low-quantity work (20 maybe 25 boards + 5 more for me to short out while testing... ;)), I really don't yet know. The memory and flash parts are pretty cheap nowadays....

Huh, 100$... One can almost buy a 720 for it ;). But I understand why...
Perhaps much less flash could make it cheaper?

PS. Sorry if I am wrong with electronics somewhere, I haven't played in
this area for like 6 years...

bye,
