CardBus can be detected by the gold-coloured ground plate above the connector, which PCMCIA don't have. Although sometimes CardBus cards are referred as PCMCIA, but that's false.

Ah, thanks. Yes, this is what I meant. I wasn't sure what the
determining factor was between the cards that work and those that don't.

Slightly off topic, I've recently been having problems with my
Jornada's PCMCIA slot. I accidentally dropped the Jornada two weeks ago
and the slot has been flaky ever since. Up until recently, I couldn't
even get the card to power on 1/75 times it was plugged in (Orinoco
silver Wireless). However, in WinCE, the card was always detected
regardless, so I'm almost certain it's a power issue.

I tore the unit apart completely and made sure everything was
well-seated. After putting it back together, the card seems to work
(power on) about 1/3 of the time it's plugged in. However, it will
often die while being used. I've left it on over night without touching
the Jornada itself and the card seems to remain powered, so physical
use must be a factor in whatever causes the card to die.

Do any of you know what specifically might be causing this?

Thanks,
