Here's a list of wireless adapters and comments about how they are supported in linux. Note that there are also PCI, USB, etc cards, which you don't want.

I wouldn't be so sure about that card being able to receive, nor transmit, while the antenna is plugged in, which I suppose you expect from the card.

It doesn't matter how new the card is. The most important is that it's PCMCIA (16bit if), and not CardBus, which is 32bit. CardBus can be detected by the gold-coloured ground plate above the connector, which PCMCIA don't have. Although sometimes CardBus cards are referred as PCMCIA, but that's false.
