You should first check which bitrate the sound you are using wants to be
played at. Then you should check which rate selection options
the driver source of the jornada sound chip has. Not all sound cards
support all bit rates, in fact (almost?) every single card has some
blind spots in their rate support, and many have support for very, very
obscure rates, so it's easy to imagine the driver being forced to choose
a rate that is an awfully close yet absolutely NOT perfect match to the
specific sample you want to play.
You should then try to enhance rate support for this chipset if possible
(some rate selection possibilities - possibly the one that you need -
may easily be undocumented, too!).
