This is very general, what exacly you are installing?
Try password rootme or after you unpack archiv remove roots' password in
/etc/passwd or /etc/shadow
line looks like this:
root:XjckjKflkd:0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh
make it
root::0:0:root:/root:/bin/sh
