System: HP Jornada 568
Distribution: Familiar 0.7.2
Perhaps this post is more appropriately placed in the jornada lists, but
I felt it may be a general issue with this card that others experience
on other systems.
Using both the hostap_cs and orinoco_cs drivers as suggested on the
hardware compatibility wiki, both result in a partially working card.
The connection is viable for some limited activity, such as logging in
via ssh/dropbear, and fetching very small files via wget. However,
whenever I do anything remotely strenuous network-wise, the result is an
error logged to the serial console:
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
eth0: Tx timeout! ALLOCFID=0128, TXCOMPLFID=03d5, EVSTAT=800b
eth0: New link status: Connected
The 3rd line indicates that it has reset the card (I know this, as the
other driver and earlier revisions of this driver log it to console as
well.) I've done quite a few different things to resolve this issue, up
to attempting to backport the latest kernel 2.4.31 drivers to my kernel
( 2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh30 ,) with success, but no resolution to my issue,
just a slightly different error message with the same functional
results :) As of now, the card works, but it is unbearable for anything
complex. For instance, I would like to be able to install apache on it,
but without copying over it and all it's dependencies by hand, I can't
install it, as ipkg seems to be interrupted by my network card's
constant resets.
Also, I should state as well I have tried the 3rd driver listed as of
now in the hardware compatibility wiki (prism2_cs) with absolutely no
positive results, just a completely nonfunctional network interface
being brought up and an incomplete wireless extensions output.
If someone could help me out with this issue, I'd be much obliged.
