If it's an original J720 (w/out the flash board) there is no way you
could have damaged it just by copying some files. The ROM is always
safe (provided physical damage happened to it).
It happens to me too that the WInCE boot process gets stuck. I just
remove the battery (I have only the main battery now, I removed the
backup one a long time ago) and try again. It always works the 2nd
time.
Just make sure you leave it w/out batteries a sufficient long time (5 min).
