But I have the following problems:

X crashes when autostarted or when manually started. The X startup seems
to be jammed running /etc/X11/Xinit.d/01xrandr.

Logging in over the serial console I can see that the system is still up
after X starts, it just isn't responding.

My network card (Buffalo WLI-PCM-L11, an Orinoco clone) doesn't work,
but then i've not got any 2.6 modules installed!

I set console=ttySA0 in params.txt but I didn't get any serial console
text, first thing I saw was once init had started running.

Can you post your .config? Did you change anything in the kernel or just
in linexec?
