Get one with 64meg if you can! Especially if your going to be running
heavyweight desktop apps.

If you want something a little less memory consuming and better suited
to the Jornada's screen try dillo, links (this has both text-only and
graphical versions) or minimo (mini mozilla).
For jabber/irc GAIM works pretty well, and there is a special handheld
edition for OPIE. If you don't use this version it takes a little
messing about with the settings to make it fit properly.
There's a good list of applications suitable for PDAs in the Psion Linux
wiki (The Psion netbook is very similar in spec to the Jornada 7xx) at
http://www.openpsion.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/Main/EpocLinux.

This will work, *BUT* its a great way to get your CF card to its 100,000
rewrite cycle limit. If you can use a microdrive or PCMCIA hard disk to
do this.
