Hi Daniel,

irda is working well with kernel 2.6 or with 2.4 kernels with Jacek's little
SIR hack.
If the kernel has this feature, then indeed modprobe irda; modprobe irtty;
irattach /dev/ttySA2 -s is sufficient and will work.

Probably the kernel you use is missing the irda hack.
