Inset the cf card into a usb reader under windows and reformat it. This
should rebuild the boot sector/partition table. Can't remember if the
graphical formatter did the trick of if I had to do it from the command
line, the /u option (unconditional format) might also be of help,
although i'm not sure which versions of windows still include it (98
does for certain).
Another approach is if you have an identical card is to use dd to copy
one card to another (make sure you do this the right way round or make
an image file of the first card and use that).
