OK got OPIE working.
You need the same modules-2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3-j720-3.tar.gz and
base3_0.tgz as for GPE
You need opie-image-jornada720-20050406002314.rootfs.tar.bz2
Extract the opie-image-jornada720-20050406002314.rootfs.tar.bz2 in one directory
Extract the base3_0.tgz in another
Move the contents of /dev from base3_0.tgz into /dev for
opie-image-jornada720-20050406002314.rootfs.tar.bz2
make a /initrd dir for opie-image-jornada720-20050406002314.rootfs.tar.bz2
make a /dev/input directory for
opie-image-jornada720-20050406002314.rootfs.tar.bz2
cd into that /dev/input and make a tsraw0 device with mknod tsraw0 c 254 1
My OPIE boots and works.

-- A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
