I made some hacks against 2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3-j720-2, so I changed the name
to *-3.

Download the source and precompiled binaries from:
http://radiolivre.org/darksnow/jornada/kernel/4/

That's the latest 2.4 I'll play, from now I'll play with the 2.6 :-)

thats what I made
(http://radiolivre.org/darksnow/jornada/kernel/4/RELEASE_NOTES):

==
This kernel is kernel 'linux-2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3-j720-2.tar.gz' [1] that has
jacek and kye hacks
against the '2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3' plus the following hacks:

- reverted drivers/char/jornada720_keyb.c from kernel 2.4.18-rmk3-hh10.

- commented out tons of printk's and applied patch epson1356fb.c.patch to
drivers/video/epson1356fb.c
available in: http://people.debian.org/~dexter/j720/kernel/epson1356fb.c.patch

- removed the boot logo in drivers/video/fbcon.c

- added field 'battery charge' in percentage in /proc/jornada/battery and some
code cleanup in
arch/arm/mach-sa1100/j720_control.c

- added a drivers/video/jornada.h and set brightness and contrast in
drivers/video/fbcon.c.
So brightness and contrast is set at boot. If you wanna adjust these values,
change INITIAL_BRIGHTNESS
and INITIAL_CONTRAST in drivers/video/jornada.h (190 and 110, by default)

There are some know issues too:

- 'mcu_byte: timed out' messages sometimes occur when you type a key first
time after boot.

- Xipaq mess the contrast and brightness settings, so you have to set then
again. (110 and 190 are good values)
like this:
# modprobe j720_control
# echo 110 > /proc/jornada/contrast
# echo 190 > /proc/jornada/brightness

- two modules with problems:
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols
in /lib/modules/2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3-j720-2/kernel/arch/arm/mach-sa1100/sa1100usb_core.o
depmod: sa1100_start_dma
depmod: sa1100_get_dma_pos
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols
in /lib/modules/2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh3-j720-2/kernel/drivers/net/irda/sa1100_ir.o
depmod: sa1100_start_dma
depmod: sa1100_get_dma_pos

- I have no prompt cursor, but jove's M-X shell or emacs M-X shell gives me
one :-)
