Hi Mark,

I am interested on a flash board also and found out that the molex
connectors part number 55299-1408 used in the jornada are going to be
manufactured again as lead free parts and the equivalent part number is now
55299-1478 (the 140 pin board to board connector lead free).

I will try to obtain samples and ship them to you so you can have some
boards built for the bunch of us who want to correctly run linux on the 720.

I will keep you posted on my efforts of obtaining the samples.

Regards,
Guy Dufour

Marek:

I tried to get the flashboard manufacturing moving a few months ago, but I
hit a couple of brick walls. First, I could not find anyone selling the
connector that attaches the flashboard to the J72x's mainboard. Second, I
could not figure out a way to do a "first time" programming of the flash
memory (i.e. to at least put a bootloader in place).

Now, there was a fellow at HP that was going to send me his "stash" of
connectors (which would have been all that we needed), but, for whatever
reason, when I tried to arrange the actual transfer, he would not answer
me back.

Secondly, there is a JTAG interface on the J72x's motherboard somewhere,
but, again, when I asked HP for a motherboard layout, all I got was
silence.

So, until these points change, a flashboard for the Jornada 72x is
pretty much dead.
