maybe I can answer a few of your questions:

1: If you are looking for Linux on the Hx47xx, then you probably want to read
through the status pages found on handhelds.org (note that this mailing list
is just discussing Linux, not Windows). The Hx74xx Linux port is in a very
early stage and not much does work yet.

2: I have use for bricked Jornada 56x devices, none of the others though.

3: Windows... no idea :)
