[jornada] How to test memory & rom on Jornada 720? filesys.exe exception error! please help!

I have worked with many Jornadas in the past, configuring them (software,
not hardware), and creating backups and running restores. I have one
particular restore file that contains many configurations that I've used now
on several Jornadas. On one particular Jornada 720 that I'm working on, I
am repeated receiving the following error when trying to perform a restore
(the restore file is on a CF card):
=====
Fatal Application Error
Applicate filesys.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be
shutdown.
Program: filesys.exe
Exception: 0xc0000005
Address: 00019b78
=====

Here is what I've know/tried:
- I can restore this same restore file just fine to other Jornada 720s, so I
know it's not corrupt
- I can successfully perform a restore to THIS jornada when I use one of my
previous smaller restore files (any that are <10MB in size)
- It fails to restore both this restore file and another large restore file
(both are just over 15MB in size). I normally need to slightly increase the
amount of memory for a restore of this size to work, but I've never had
trouble with it completing before
- I've tried restoring from this same CF card to another Jornada and it
worked, so I know the CF card is okay.
- I also tried copying all the files to a new different CF card and the same
error happens, so I am pretty sure it's not the CF card itself
- I always perform a hard reset before completing any restore.

I'm beginning to wonder if part of the memory is corrupt, and when it gets
to the point of using that portion of the memory, it fails. Does anyone
know of any software (or hardware) that I can use to test the physical
memory (and also the rom image) of the Jornada? I'm not sure how to do
this.

If anyone has any suggestions at all on what to try or what might be
happening, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks,
Sheree
