I recently purchased a Jornada 720 to replace my aging Psion 5mx and am
hoping to get a useable Linux system going on it.
So far i've only tried the image of Peter Gerwinski's distro that I
found at
http://homepage1.nifty.com/kyou-kyou/jornada/en/howto_install001.html.
This distro has given me a lot of trouble, when I tried to install any
of the IPKGs I got a series of errors and ipkg install never seemed to
complete, however the appplication seemed to install, but when I ran it,
the system would just crash (no kernel messages, just froze). I also had
similar problems with some of the applications already installed, for
instance running matchbox cauesd a similar crash.
Can anyone recommend a suitable distribution and accompanying kernel? I
don't mind something which takes up a bit of space as i'm about to buy a
512 meg compact flash for the jornada.
Also I presume the only way I can boot my jornada into Linux is via
hpcboot, as it doesn't have a special ROM without Windows on it??
