I just checked out linux/kernel from handhelds.org - 172.6 MB of
source code.

1) It does not compile until I comment out line 137 in pm.c:
     GFER = GPIO_H3800_AC_IN
Since we do not have a H3800 this should make no difference.
However this line should not be needed in the first place.

2) The compiled kernel does not boot. It stops after "Uncompressing
   Linux...".

All I have is hpcboot.

If there is a possibility to obtain a real bootloader for my Jornada
instead of MS-Windows CE, I would be interested in purchasing one.
Any pointers?

Hmm... does this mean that, although I booted Linux, MS-Windows CE
is still in the way when I want to use power management? No chance
to put Linux asleep until I press a key, or similar?

While a real power on/off would be great I would be satisfied for
now with the possibility to save battery power by turning the screen
backlight off because this would allow me to start _using_ my
Jornada.

Unless anyone has a better idea, I will try next to backport the PM
changes to the working linux-2.4.18-rmk2-hh2-jornada720 kernel.
(Although this is not related to MS-Windows CE, a pointer to the
relevant source files would be nice.)
