At that point I proceed with an initrd which loads PCMCIA services
and then boots from a partition on a CF card. The main problem was
to squeeze PCMCIA into the RAM disk: It seems that it is not
possible to use a RAM disk bigger than 2 MB.

I am going to compile a description how I succeeded to boot
GNU/Linux on my Jornada this evening - including ready-to-run
disk images.
Now if someone succeeds with power management, I could even start
to _use_ my Jornada. :-/
