I have been using the NetBSD bootloader and it does start loading the Linux
Kernal. But it hangs after uncompressing kernel. The screen gets filled with
garbage first though, so my guess has been a different location for the
framebuffer. The best guess I have heard from folks as to why the 820 hangs is
the 16MB of memory, that would seem to imply that the memory map is in the
kernel and not discovered. I am not much of a kernel hacker, but I have managed
to get it that far.

As far as the CF card goes it would be seen as an IDE drive, not as ram.

You are right though that very few folks are using the 820. I personally love
the form factor of this box, but alas I think I am going to have to buy
something else as my portable linux solution since we have very little support
for the 820 in the comunity.
