Linux pda = more memory ???

Hello!

I have a Palm VIIx pda and love it. I'm finding that it has memory limitations though as it only has 8 MB of RAM (1983 KB ROM) and no memory expandability. I found Fly Zip which compresses the RAM, but I'm still in need of memory to uncompress programs with FlyZip and Plucker. I've seen projects that convert a Palm OS to a Linux OS. I'm wondering if there is a memory advantage here (Linux uses less ROM than the 1983 K that Palm uses)?
