RS-232 is a time pit, isn't it?

Yes. I use a M-M gender-bender and null modem, along with a serial
sync cable. In theory you can use an RS-232 iPAQ cable, but it didn't
exist when I got started.

Someone somewhere got the stupid idea that a disclaimer was useful,
and put one into their .signature. Other people saw it, and said "Oh!
Gosh! We don't have a disclaimer on our email! That's a problem!"
And so this idea has spread through the Internet, wreaking its damage
left and right. Please *do* resist the use of a disclaimer in your
organization. Nobody takes them seriously. I hope your organization
does not -- or do you really intend to sue me because I have no plans
to keep your email confidential?
