Everyone,

I'm using the 0.5pre root image and the 2.15.15 bootloader. My hardware
congiguration is a dual PCMCIA sleeve, 1 GB microdrive, Lucent Orinoco
Gold 802.11 card, on a Ipaq 3670.

I noticed that as long as someone follows the bootloader instructions
exactly, this card works great! No modifications or module problems,
since I'm trying to consolidate the documentation for Familiar, this was
important to me. It's identified as "WaveLAN/IEEE PCMCIA driver v1.0.6"

At boot-up, the following is displayed:

And strangely enough, right after logging in as root, another batch of
messages appears:

So the card works, is this final data just a delayed initialization of
the Card Services or the PCMCIA card drivers?

Thanks,

Jason

I have tried WLAN and Orinocos drivers with 0.5 and single PCMCIA sleeve
without success.
This Orinoco's card worked just fine in Familiar 0.4 (Kernel 2.4.3) and
WLAN-drivers. It however didn't
work with Orinoco's drivers.

Are you using the wvlan or the orinoco driver ?

I have no problems using the default 0.5 image and a Lucent Orinoco Gold
card. I used the 2.15.15 bootloader and the image specified in the
0.5pre installation document. I also have a dual PCMCIA sleeve, so I'm
not certain about using it with the single sleeve.

There is still a general problem with that card. You should use the
orinoco
driver
for it, but unfortunately that doesn't work either at the moment.
I may be able to send you the required modules for 2.4.7 so you can
at least get it working.

I installed Familiar 0.5 on my iPaq, everything works well, but I can't
get
wlan card work. Card is Orinoco gold. Here's the message that I get when
I
switch the card on to iPaq:

It seems to recognize the card as Compaq WL110 when it should be Lucent
Orinoco Gold. With familiar 0.4 everything worked well on this same
device.
I feel quite frustrated, when I have installed every pcmcia any wlan
modules over and nothing seems to help.
Regards,
Erkki
