Re: [iPAQ] PROBLEM WITH ORINOCO CARD

I have similar problems with the 3Com AirConnect wireless lan card. With
the stock familiar v0.5pre kernel it does not work. So I compiled my own
orinoco driver and did some changes with __attribute__ ((packed)) on
every struct in hermes.c and some in orinoco.c and orinoco_cs.c. It
works kind of.. but not always and certainly not on the fly.

In the 2.4.6 series I had it working (only 3COM Airconnect firmware
version 1.0) pretty good. There it works on every insert of the card and
with cold boot/warm boot. I also used pcmcia-3.1.22 utilities instead of
the familiar 3.1.20.

My chances of getting it to work with the 2.4.7-rmk3-np2-devfs driver
are slightly better when I use a firmware 1.0 and not 2.0. But still it
is not good. The symptoms: Only when I turn the iPaq ('coldboot') on.
Log in on the serial console and do a 'cardctl status' or something
first, then I can insert the 3Com Airconnect card. Usually it works, but
only firmware 1.0. Of course I'm using the single pcmcia sleeve. I also
added some pcmcia utilities; ifuser and ifport.

This week I planned to track down the differences between 2.4.6 and
2.4.7 orinoco driver version, but priorities changed. My wife gave birth
to a son. We named him Matt.

Greetings,
