[iPAQ] Dead iPAQ battery?

  I dug out an iPAQ that had been languishing in a desk drawer for some months,
 with plans to install linux. Last time I used it, the IPAQ worked fine.

 I charged the IPAQ overnight before noticing the below:

 when given line power, it works as expected, starting from 'welcome to winCE' screen.
 when line power was removed, it instantly turned off, and would not turn back on.
 when line power was returned, it again booted, starting from 'welcome to winCE' screen.

 I let it charge for a few hours, but it still would only run with line power.

 Is there an internal battery cable that could be disconnected?
 ... An internal fuse?
