I got pre5 working and found out that you really have to check flow
control a few times. Minicom seems to not do well these days and I
never get a download success of the bootloader or anything else.
Hyperterminal in 98 seems to do better. I run debian unstable here.
When I got pre5 going, I could not find the default editor which is
listed in /etc/profile. It calls ae but I did not see ae installed by
default.
Since I don't use dhcpcd at home, it took me a few moments to figure out
how to get online so I could get the ftp package or ssh or whatever.
Perhaps ae should be included? Creating a /etc/resolv.conf made me go
back and consider the echo command a little more closely :)
The nice thing is to have the dual sleeve and networking working. I
have an IBM 1g Microdrive and a socket lopower ethernet card which both
can work at the same time. Very nice.
It'll be nice to have the system work after a suspend event. That's one
thing I enjoyed with 0.4. BTW, has anyone tried doing a intimate
install on pre5? If not, is there a kernel and task I can download for
0.4 which will give me the dual pcmcia sleeve? I checked out the lorien
ftp site and there is a lot of stuff related to kernels and other
packages there. Is there a correct combination if I choose to rebuild
with 0.4 to get the sleeve working?
Thanks.
