(as root) ln -s /dev/sound/mixer /dev/mixer

Install my newer mixer package found at

http://handhelds.org/~nikos/feed/mixer_0.4-kc0.1_arm.ipk

and edit /etc/X11/app-defaults/Emix adding the line

emix.device: /dev/sound/mixer

By the way, my mixer has some modification to work more
nicely with ion and adds the ability to use the pointer
with the Q and arrow buttons to move and exit the mixer
application. One of these days I will get around to making
it a docked application.
