Hi,
I have an easy question. The wiki for the fam0.5 pre instructions
(http://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/feeds/unstable/install/H3600/install.html)
does not specify which kernel to use.
So the (possibly) logical thing to do is to use the same as from 0.4,
especially given that the installation instructions don't ask you to
reset the linuxargs and set up different partition (sizes).
Anywho, when I try to load
bootldr_v2_15_6
zImage-2.4.3-rmk2-np1-fam2
task-bootstrap.jffs2 (from the unstable feed)
everything seems ok, but when I boot I get this error:
Old JFFS2 bitmask found at 0x0003388c
You cannot use older JFFS2 filesystems with newer kernels
JFFS2: Erase block at 0x00000000 is not formatted. It will be erased
Old JFFS2 bitmask found at 0x00066bd8

JFFS2: Erase block at 0x00040000 is not formatted. It will be erased
Cowardly refusing to erase blocks on filesystem with no valid JFFS2
nodes
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 1f:03
This is extremely frustrating since others have reported everything
working fine. I need to get 0.5 in order to use the dual sleeve
expansion.
Further this error doesn't seem to make any sense, I have an old
kernel (from fam 0.4) and a new jffs2 from the unstable feed. But the
error seems to indicate that the kernel thinks it is too new for the
jffs filesystem version??
What kernel should I be using? Every time I try the 2.4.7
instructions that Jamey posted I end in kernel panics trying to boot.
Does anybody know what's going on here?
Thanks,
Mark.
