Qt/Embedded is not compiled with GIF support (anymore) . I solved it now
by adding some code to konq/e to dlopen additional plugin libraries and
hacked up a gif plugin to provide the GIF support. For that I took the
GPL'ed GIF code from Qt (as suggested by Warwick) and hacked up a smallish
wrapper around it.
So to get GIF support back
a) upgrade to the latest konqueror/embedded snapshot
(at the usual place: http://bolug.uni-bonn.de/files/konq-e/ as
ipkg source)
b) in addition install the konqe-gifplugin ipkg from the same
location (ipkg install konqe-gifplugin is your friend ;-)
The source tarball of the plugin can be found at
http://devel-home.kde.org/~hausmann/konqe-gifplugin/konqe-gifplugin-1.0.tar.gz
and the source of the konq/e snapshot is at the usual place at
http://devel-home.kde.org/~hausmann/snapshots/ (taken from the KONQE_1_0_BRANCH
from the CVS Repository)
