[iPAQ] Modify existing WinCE ROM image ?

Hi,
I created some images of the WinCE system with the linux bootloader.
I thought that when copying them in one single file, there must be a way
(in linux) to mount this image and edit it ?
Maybe there is the possibility to add another 16mb as I am one of the
lucky ones with a 32mb rom.
But what filesystem is the wince rom, maybe anyone can help me with
this?
I am thinking about creating a windows (and maybe linux) software to
help all those people trying to edit/resize their rom images to put more
apps in the rom and save valuable ram space.
