I'm investigating why the screen brightness under Linux is so much less
'bright' than under WinCE.
I'm comparing a 3650 (which has been running Familiar for 9 months or
so) with a new 3670 (running Windows CE/Pocket PC).
Is there any difference in hardware between the two models, or could the
screen have deteriorated over time? Or is this purely a software issue?
I took some screenshots when running WinCE on the old 3650 - the white
values come out with RGB values of 248,252,248 respectively. I get the
same results if I 'xsetroot -solid white' and then use the raw2ppm
program in the Wiki iPaqScreenshots section. Presumably this is the
limitation of a 12-bit display.
I have set 'bl 1 1 255' but the Linux screen looks more like a 75% gray
compared to WinCE.

What's going on here?
Thanks!
