Hello Dirk,
The Skiffcluster is on 24 hours per day seven days per week. Sometimes the
Skiff's just run out of memory, thus crashing. I have tried to fix this
problem by attempting to use a nfs mounted swap file. Sometimes it works,
sometimes it does not. In the near future, I will be creating the Shark
Pool, which is an architecture similar to the Skiff's but with hard drives.
This will allow the use to have real swap space and correct this problem.
The HD's on the Sharks should also speed up compilations, since the all
files will reside locally.
If the skiffs are hung please e-mail myself or jame@crl.dec.com. If we are
in our offices we would be more than happy to reset them.
I hope this helps.
