[iPAQ] corrupted flash downloads

I've had my flash downloads get corrupted a few times now, and am
curious as to why this is happening. I thought that xmodem would verify
the download? Both times I've had bizzare crashes (this latest one was
with my kernel going nuts whenever I inserted a pcmcia card), and have
checked the md5sums of the flash (with dd if=/dev/flashN bs=imgsize
count=1 | md5sum, and then checking against the appropriate
{init,root,usr}-cramfs; this time I found that my root was corrupted. I
reflashed, and everything was fine. Any thoughts? If xmodem can't
guarantee that the data will be good, maybe the bootldr should do a
md5sum of the resulting data and at least tell you the md5sum at the
end, so that you can check, and reflash if necessary.. I might hack the
bootldr to do this for my own sanity at least. ("WHY the hell is test8
crashing when I insert any of ne2k/wvlan/serial/CF/...? It works for
eveyrone else!")
