There is also the possibility of this being something similar to what
happened to Peter -- one of the leads that was supposed to break the
circuit to the internal speaker and go to the headphones wasn't
correctly adjusted, so it didn't move right. I think Peter mentioned
similar problems to the ones you described; unfortunately, surgery had
to be performed on his iPAQ to fix it :-P
