Hello former Palm users, ;)
I think that a Palm emulator will work for the iPAQ. Here is what I've
done so far:
1) I compiled xcopilot-0.6.7-str on skiffcluster. It ran just
fine, (at least up until it printed "E - ROM file not
found"). I tried it under i386 and got past the file not
found problem, (it expects ROM files in ~/.xcopilot), but I
never got it to do anything more than turn on the back
light, (even under i386). :(
2) I got the newer POSE, a derivative of copilot which PalmOS
maintains, (still GPL of course), from:
http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/tools/emulator/seeding.html
It compiles just fine under i386 and works with my ROM
file.
3) I started compiling pose on skiffcluster, but #4 just went
down with the rest of them. :( (Can't wait for homegrown
native compilation -- my CF sleeve, ethernet card, and
microdrive should arrive Tuesday!)
4) In the meantime, I have run pose on my i386 with display
set to my iPAQ. Even with the iPAQ in landscape things fit
just fine. As long as you turn off the double-large mode
the entire 160x160 application area as well as the graffiti
area fit perfectly, (and careful application of the window
manager's move function bring the buttons onto the screen).
Just as soon as skiffcluster comes back up I'll try this for real and
let you know how it works...
Certainly exciting!
