[iPAQ] CF card freezing?

I've tried plugging in a Kingston 32MB compact flash card on my 0.15 IPAQ,
but card services just gets into an endless loop (it seems) and access
slows to a crawl. Any idea what could be causing this? I'm assuming
since I've seen references to putting stuff on CF that it's at least
supported (in theory).

Also, I know that USB is kind of "in progress", but is there any
possibility of getting a console over USB on a running system?
