[iPAQ] setting /proc/scale

Hi,

I played around a bit with scaling the processor speed (no internal
work, only writing different factors to /proc/scale). Sometimes my app
segfaults or the iPAQ even crashes when I try to change the speed in
large steps (>5) but sometimes not, e.g. 3->9 somestimes works and
mostly not.

I can't see any determinism yet. Is there any?? How to detect it? I
would like the user of my little app not have to think about the steps
in which he'd like to increase the processor speed.
