OK, I got it... While looking a little bit closer at the boot-messages I
saw 2 Flash-infos:
first:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
btflash_init: found flash 28F128J3A
  ...
  ...
  ...
  flash_size=02000000
  ...
dram_size: 02000000
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
so flash size reports 32MB as well as the dram_size which happens to be
the same
second:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash CFI Info
        ...
        ...
        ...
        ...
        device_size = 0x18 (16777216, 16 MB, 128Mb)
        ...
        ...
        ...
        ...
FLASH Driver: using 28F128J3A devices
FLASH Driver initialized
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
it says "deviceS", but it could be only one...
