Hi folks ...

I'm trying to figure out a way to flash my Cerf SA1110 from the machine
iself, as opposd to from TFTP. I have the images on the MicroDrive
attached to the CompactFlash port, and I have a modified palm pilot hooked
(as console) to it's serial port. I know the traditional way to flash it
is to interupt the boot process, let it get dhcp/bootp from a server, and
then tftp from that server the image into flash, but that involves setting
up a network, brining in a server that is willing to run bootp and tftp,
and transfer between them twice (the modified images that reside on my Cerf
board to the server and then tftp them (which isn't all that a relyable
protocol in the first place) back.

Shouldn't there just be a way to write to the flash from the running system
itself? This would be really useful for the embedded system to work, so I
can do maintainance at all the sites with just my palm pilot, as opposed to
trying to hack some sort of server hookup to it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Pointers?

Thanks!
