[iPAQ] problems with v0.13; ipaq's not booting, CS5#

It's been almost a week since we reported that there were problems with
machines on which v0.13 was newly installed. I know this has been causing
some problems for people because v0.12 won't install on many machines and
we've been telling you not to use v0.13, so I thought I'd report on
progress, or lack thereof.

What we've discovered is that the memory-mapped register that controls the
transceiver, the flash programming enable pin, and power to the LCD and
audio sections, is not properly being written to. So the bootldr is
booting, writing characters to the serial port, loading and booting Linux,
but no effect is seen on the serial connector or the screen.

This register sits in static memory bank 5, and the register is clocked when
CS5# is low, WE# is low, A24 is high and A25 is low. What we're seeing on
the failed units is that CS5# is low for 500ns instead of 25ns, and WE# is
pulsed multiple times. Previously, we were not initializing MSC2, which
controls the timing to this bank. It seems to be defaulting to 0, which is
consistent with the behavior on the working units. Initializing it to zero
or to other values does not seem to change the behavior. It's possible some
of the other bits we're not initializing is causing a problem.

Has anyone seen a problem like this on another board? Does anyone have the
bootldr ported to Assabet?

I will keep everyone posted on our progress with this.
