[iPAQ] iPaq Linux partial install failure

Hello!

I originally posted to the linux list (linux@handhelds.org),
describing my iPaq bootldr's inability to write to flash after being
installed on the machine.

Luckily, I still have access to the bootloader (it runs! just
won't flash anything it downloads), and I am trying to figure out a few
things in order to put in the right bootloader, or restore the WinCE images
I saved.

The first is what bootloader is in there. Since I was using the
v0.13 OSLoader and the v0.13 bootldr, I am assuming the bootldr is
bootldr-0000-2.9.0. I was able to load the bootldr (whatever version it
is) using XMODEM and the OSLoader from v.013. However, I want to be sure
before proceeding on any kind advice I may get.

Is there another way to determine which one it is? Perhaps by
looking at the info messages it prints during startup (eg, after a reset)?

I know there are currently some issues related to the possibility
of slightly modified hardware from iPaq to iPaq, and those issues tell me
"patience!".

But I am curious as to any proposed sequence of commands issued to
my currently installed bootldr that might make it accept the WinCE images,
or the kernel image/initrd/filesystems, so that I could have it in at least
some usable state until the current problems are solved - preferably Linux,
since if it starts running Linux, I'll get excited and install the ARM
toolchain, look at the ARM docs, start surfing for more - and start being
able to contribute! I'd love to put v0.12 in there, or any working version.

Any help is greatly appreciated, including sage advice (like
"chill out dude! it's coming!") which I will of course follow impatiently. :)

Thanks in advance, and any data that you need to see from my setup
I will post ASAP.
