I just got this to work. I am using RH 6.2 and had to modify the pppd command
line to add noauth as follows:
/usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS0 115200 noauth connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v -f
/root/ipaq.chat'
I also created a new connection not called 'My Connection', but I'm not sure
how important that is. I played about with the connection values and
eventually just used the defaults. I also got a minicom to run and pass
characters back and forth without the compression settings, but all else
failed. Once you get the 'Status connected' message on the ipaq you are
golden.
