I did some digging in the mailing list archives and came up with:

I was looking for the wrong module names. As mentioned in the message
referenced above all that is needed is slhc, ppp_generic, and
ppp_async, (all of which are available in v0.13).

I still don't know the answer to this one. This issue is not addressed
by the message I referenced above.

I guess I'll give this a whirl now that I found a few pointers.
