sounds bad... no output on the serial port anymore?

Assuming the bootloader is really broken there is a pretty good description
about how to connect a JTAG to the h5xxx iPAQs here:

It is not really easy, but if you have some experience with a soldering iron it
should work for you. If you are located somwhere close to me i might help a
little bit...
