Howdy.
New to the list.
This kind of question has probably been posted a lot in the past.. I
apologize if this is redundant and please feel free to ignore my post!
I would like to get an iPaq and put Linux on it. I've wanted a Linux
PDA for some time, and the Sharp ones are just a little too expensive
for what you get, IMO. I've been poking around a bit, and it looks
like several of the iPaq 3xxx models are well supported at this point.
However, I would like to get the 5500, as it integrates both Bluetooth
and Wifi, and it's more powerful. I understand that the porting to the
5500 isn't complete, but it looks pretty good so far.
My questions are as follows:
- Can I use a 4GB microdrive with the 5500?
- Does the Wifi work?
- I understand Bluetooth isn't quite there yet, but is it good enough to
support a Bluetooth keyboard and/or a Bluetooth "modem" (aka my GPRS
phone capable of this)? Does it work?
- Does USB support work? Can you sync stuff with a PC?
- If not the 5500, is there a similar or better unit that's better
supported that could handle these things out there?
Those are really my primary concerns. I'm not a linux newbie, and I
should be able to figure out most of it myself once I get the unit.
But it's hard to know without having one! Before dropping a couple
hundred bucks on the thing, I was hoping someone could answer my
questions.
Thanks in advance!
Joe
