[iPAQ] Blank screen on HP5550

I have a HP5550 with linux downloaded but the screen is blank. I can get
the buzz noise if I hit the reset button but cannot get a serial connection
with settings 115200 bps, 8N1 serial configuration, no flow control, no
hardware handshaking. Any ideas on how to boot the device?
