[iPAQ] Problem with a dual sleeve.

Hi all.
 talking irc with pb_ it adviced to to try to ask here for help on a
problem I have.
I have a compaq dual pcmcia sleeve, that seems not to working correctly.
The symptom is that it never reach the full charge.
When I'm working with power applied ( usb cradle ) it works well, but if
take away the power there is no way to use it.
I have also tried to change the battery, with no chance.
I was wondering if there is some test I can do to find the problem and
eventually fix it. I have basic knowledge of electronic, and I'm at least
able to use a tester.
Do you have some hints for me?
