I have a vision of myself with a Compaq iPaq handheld workstation (because
it's running Linux damnit!) out in the middle of nowhere (although somehow
I have CDPD Internet access out here) administering my Linux server over
VPN. I can also run programs that reside on my server (written in PHP)
that keep all my contacts, appointments, phone numbers, E-mail etc... on
that server instead of hogging valuable space on my local device (thus
saving it for important things like Doom). However, being hardheaded as I
am, I want the best of both worlds. Does anyone know if there will ever be
an expansion pack that has two slots in it? If I had that, I could have
connectivity and storage. Or perhaps someone knows of a company that make
dual purpose cards like the Ethernet/Modem ones but in the
CDPD|Ricochet|whatever/Flash Storage format.
I would really love to get started on the server side programing that
I mentioned earlier. I think that as the handheld computers get more
integrated with wireless internet access that there will be a market for
guys like me to build programs and administer online servers for them.
What do you all think?
On a side note, anyone have X turned around the "right" way yet? Having
the option to switch between the two settings would be great.

P.S. Still lookin' for an iPaq
