I never had the problem that you discribe...
Normally there is no problem with that bootloader...
Are you sure that you doesn't push the buttons for a hard-reset?

The second thing is, that you can save the informations to the "rom" and sync
them after a hard reset. Why you want to do a reset? Normally you don't need
that!

I ask you, because it's dangerous to flash the bootloader - you can destroy
your pda, when something goes wrong...
