[iPAQ] I have a problem about configuring the kernel on PDA

Hello :
      I have a ipaq h5550 PDA. I had installed linux (version 2.4.19-rmk6-pxa1-hh36 familiar v0.7.2+unstable16).
I had downloaded linux kernel source(2.4.19) from this website http://www.us.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.4
After i decompress the kernel source, which action do i need to do?
which ipkg files do i need to install?
which command do i need to key in?
I had tried many times, but i can not "make oldconfig" successfully.
Can you help me for detail answer?
